Rose Wanchap – Licensee & Principal
My real estate career spans four continents and 35 years. In 1976 At the age of 29 and a mother of three school age children, I joined the Ray White Group in Brisbane, firstly in residential then in the High Rise Unit division of Ray White, Toowong where I achieved sales figures to substantiate a position in the top 15 sales persons in the State of Queensland.
In later years I became the owner and proprietor of a Property Management business with a rent roll of 45 residential properties and 4 blocks of units. I sold this business when I moved to California in 1986 with my three children. I took up employment with California South West Management for 12 months. After leaving this company I left with my three children who were now teenagers and traveled around America from south to north, across to the East coast and back to LA before returning to Australia in 1988.
After a couple of years in Australia working for L.J.Hooker in Hamilton I left for the UK with my children and by this time their partners. We lived in north London for a couple of years before moving to the Algarve, Portugal. I sold time share with a British company for 18 months before returning to live in South London for a number of years. At this time I became the Licensee of a Hotel in Islington and later was offered the prestigeous position as the Licensee of the Clarence Hotel in Piccadilly Circus in the centre of London. I returned to Australia for the birth of my first grand daughter in 1996 taking up employment with LJHooker in Clayfield, Brisbane at this time.
In 2000 I moved to Byron Bay and began working with the Professionals in Byron Bay achieving a high level of recognition with consistent sales throughout the three years of my employment with them.
In late 2002 I formed a company with my son and purchased the management rights of 35 units in Byron Central Apartments in the heart of Byron Bay. Some six months later in 2003 I opened Red Rose Realty. Both businesses have complimented each other moving from strength to strength.
I have been the Owner/Proprietor of numerous business ventures over the past 40 years, but this is the first time I have opened my own Real Estate Office.
The response to Red Rose Realty from the public has been overwhelming, I have successfully competed in an industry that is highly competitive gleaning a large portion of the market share. Many of those who chose to do business with me chose to do so because they wanted to make a difference in peoples lives as I did.
I have made many friends over the 11 years that I have been selling real estate in Byron Bay and more importantly few enemies. Not an easy feat in the Real Estate world where one conversation can make the difference between a friend or foe.
Another venture I have recently been involved with my daughter is to establish an Integrated Hospital in Byron Bay. See her web site for more info on this www.bimedicine.com.au Stay tuned for more news.
After forty or more years serving on varius committees, boards and organisations from president to board member I have just recently decided to put my hand up to run as a candidate on the Greens team for the up coming council elections. Having been an advocate for environmental and human rights issues I hope to be able to work more closely with others on council to further these ideals.
See the link below to the Byron Greens web site for more information about the Greens candidates.
